Tshepo Themba Multi Purpose Resource Centre
The Tshepo Themba multi purpose resource centre is based in Etwatwa East- Ekurhuleni Municipality of Gauteng Province.
The centre was officially opened in 1997 in partnership with the local government and the Royal Netherlands embassy.
The Community hall was constructed by efforts of the Etwatwa community and was officially opened in October 2002 in partnership with the Gauteng provincial government. Tshepo Themba is a community centre consisting of an office building and a 600 seat community hall.
The centre’s secondary target group is teenagers who are school-based, from ages 10 to 18 years old through a Computer clubhouse program that is run in partnership with Intel computer clubhouse Network.
Clubhouse is a program run based on Intel’s mission that “provides a creative and safe learning environment where young people work with adult mentors to explore their own ideas, develop skills, and build confidence through the use of technology”.
- Digital Literacy
The goal of Digital Literacy is to teach and assess basic computer concepts and skills so that people can use computer technology in everyday life to develop new social and economic opportunities for themselves, their families, and their communities
- Educational Support Programme
This programme is designed to assist learners in creating an enabling environment that will aid them in doing their assignments, homework and prepare for their tests and exams.
The Computer Clubhouse provides a creative and safe after-school learning environment where young people from undeserved communities work with adult mentors to explore their own ideas, develop skills and build confidence in themselves through the use of technology
- Life Skills (outsourced)
Life skills programmes are developed to give advice to the vulnerable youth, youth at risk, underprivileged youth and young people in general on various subjects that can make them live a meaningful life, achieve their goals, deal with social and emotional challenges and be responsible and accountable citizen of South Africa
